There is no blanket New York State mandate requiring OSHA 30 for general industry; it is widely required by employers and unions for supervisory roles. NY public-sector workers are covered by PESH. Note: NYC Local Law 196 / SST applies only to construction, not general industry.
How long does the course take?
It's 30 hours of training and fully self-paced. Because OSHA caps online training at 7.5 hours per day, the course is completed over a minimum of four days, and most learners finish in about two weeks.
General Industry vs Construction, which do I need?
Choose General Industry (29 CFR 1910) for warehouses, factories, healthcare, and most workplaces. Choose Construction (29 CFR 1926) for job sites and the trades.

The federal OSHA 30 Outreach card does not expire, though some employers and states ask workers to refresh training periodically.
